The Best Bright Lipsticks for Summer

best liquid lipsticks

When it comes to liquid lipsticks, we have very strong opinions: the colors have to be super-saturated, the formula has to be long-lasting and not sticky, and the finish has to be supremely glossy (otherwise why bother?). And this is why we adore Ulta’s Liquid Lipstick Kit ($10). Applied with a flat or angled brush, all three colors (Pink SpritzerMimosa and Ruby Red) can be worn semi-sheer or layered for a more intense finish. The included clear primer (not pictured) ensures that your shade of choice stays put for hours without uncomfortable dryness or fading.

best pink lipsticks

Pink lipstick is often thought of in terms of spring lipcolor only; we say that’s for the birds. Beautiful pink lips should be a summertime staple! Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Sexer ($21) is a bright, almost neon fuchsia with incredibly subtle violet shimmer throughout. The semi-matte finish means that it lasts an unbelievably long time; it’s practically picnic-proof. If you’re looking for a deeper pink, bareMinerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil Balm in Pink Passion ($16) is a flatteringly rich raspberry shade that can be worn as a sheer tinted gloss, or layered for more color impact. We can’t say enough good things about this formula; midway between a lipstick, stain and balm, it’s incredibly hydrating, long-lasting and non-sticky. And if you’ve been looking for the perfect cool-toned cotton candy shade but don’t want to look like a Malibu Barbie knockoff, L’Oreal Color Riche Balm in Pink Satin ($7.95) is the pink for you. Pigmented enough to make an impact yet sheer enough to not be overpowering, it’s the ideal lipstick to embrace your inner Princess Bubblegum while still looking impeccably chic.

best coral lipsticks

Coral lips are always a summer trend, and we say thank goodness: more fun than straight red and easier to wear than orange, coral is our warm weather lipstick go-to for sure. Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in So Sofia ($30) is absolutely perfect: a creamy, dreamy semi-matte coral that’s as high-impact as it is comfortable to wear. The shade definitely comes down more on the pink than the orange side, which makes it the perfect color with which to to transition out of spring and into summer. L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Lipcolor in Captivated by Cerise ($12.99) is a truly magical red-coral that brightens every complexion and seriously. Stays. All. Day. Not kidding; we get 12 hours of immaculate wear out of this formula. And if you’re searching for a beautiful orange-coral, look no further than Maybelline Color Sensational The Vivids in Shocking Coral ($5.99). Incredibly bright and incredibly easy to wear, this is the ideal shade for coral newbies; we love wearing it dabbed overtop lip balm for a subtle flush of color.

best summer lipsticks

When it comes to summer beauty game-changers, look no further than Revlon Ultra HD Lipsticks ($9.99 each). Made without wax for an incredibly smooth, pigmented finish, these are the lipsticks we have been reaching for every day since they were first released. And we’re not the only ones; Emma Stone LOVES these, and who are we to argue with a woman as stylish as she is? Our office color picks: Gladiolus (a bold, warm red), Tulip (a peach-orange, made famous by Our Girl Emma at the 2015 Oscars), Azalea (a warm-toned medium pink) and Orchid (a radiant purple-toned fuchsia). With 19 shades so far, you’re bound to find an HD lip color you’ll love.

And if you’re looking for a lip color that’s a little different, consider Too Faced Melted Metallic Lipstick in Violet ($21). With a unique, soft-tipped applicator and truly metallic finish, this beautiful cool lilac shade manages to be unique and flattering at the same time. Purple is one of the big summer trends this year; what better way to wear it than on your kisser?
