In Defense Of Bacon: Why Eating Fat Can Help You Get Thin
By Mina Yun I know you’re out there.
You order salad dressing “on the side.”
You steam all your vegetables.
Instead of bacon and eggs for breakfast, you have a low-fat yogurt and a banana.
C’mon, admit it. You’re a fat-a-phobe, but that’s OK. We’ve all been there at some point in our lives. And it’s no wonder. Just look at all the messages that surround us everywhere:
“If you eat fat, you’ll get fat.”
“That’s a coronary episode on a plate.”
“Can I have a heart attack with that burger, please?”
I’m here to set the record straight. Not only can fat be good for you, it can help you lose weight. Yes, really!
But you gotta know how to do it right, so if you want to know how to eat fat to get thin, read on:
Eat real fat.
By real, I mean fat that existed before the Industrial Revolution. This includes the following: organic butter, organic ghee, lard rendered from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals, coconut oil, palm oil, extra v…

10 Ways to Get Glowing Skin

Image
How to Get Glowing Skin in 10 Easy Steps Posted by With summer coming and going at the speed of light, we can’t help but wonder what shape our skin will be in in the next couple of weeks.  While we all wish that our tan we worked so hard on could last well into the winter, there are a few things that you can do to keep the summer glow lasting a lot longer than just the end of August.  Why not pull our hair back into a bun and show off our glowing skin alongside our summer tan?

1. Use a Toner.  After you cleanse your skin, making use of a toner is suggested.  If you apply moisturizer and other products to dewy skin, they are more likely to latch on and act faster.  Not only does toner bond products to your skin, but it evens the skins tone.  Oily skin and clogged pores are among two types that could possibly benefit the most from using a toner.  Be careful when choosing a toner though, there are multiple different varieties of which a few can be harmful or t…

Scotch Egg http://www.janssushibar.com/scotch-eggs/
Scotch Eggs
makes 8
1 1/2 pounds hot Italian sausage
8 large peeled hard-boiled eggs at room temperature
1 cup finely ground almonds (almond flour)
Preheat the oven to 350 F; line a shallow, rimmed baking sheet with foil. Spread the almond flour in a pie plate.
Using your hands, press the sausage around a hard-boiled egg until it is completely and evenly covered; roll it in the almond flour to coat it. Repeat with the remaining eggs. Roll the eggs once more in the remaining almond flour and place on the foil-lined baking sheet.
Bake the eggs until the outside is browned and the sausage is cooked through, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes; slice in half and serve with mustard, horseradish or cocktail sauce.

5 Worst Beauty Moves

5 Worst Beauty Moves
by Karina Giglio

When it comes to beauty, there can be a fine line between right and wrong. Take makeup, for example. The right foundation can transform your face into an image of poreless perfection and the wrong one can morph it into a masky mess. Here are the most common self-inflicted grooming catastrophes and how to avoid them.

Worst Beauty Move #1: Wearing Foundation on Flaky Skin
Not unlike paint, foundation needs a smooth surface. Otherwise it looks cracked, dry, dull and—worse—obvious, which is the exact opposite of what you want your foundation to do for you. “Foundation should absorb into the skin, disappearing into it,” says Fabiola, a makeup artist who works with Emma Stone and Mila Kunis. To even out the surface of your skin, gently scrub it to remove dead cells and flakes. Try:The Body Shop Aloe Gentle Exfoliator. Then spritz on Kiehl’s Açaí Damage-Protecting Toning Mist. Finish by applying a moisturizing lotion or, if you have extremely dr…

Image
5 Anti-Aging Supplements That Really Work Every day we are getting older, all of us. Age means wisdom and experience, so be proud of each one of your wrinkles, but, we can always stay looking young and vibrant with help from nature.
No one stays young forever, but some nutritional supplements promise to add some time to your life, these supplements are an important part of life extension because an anti-aging diet might not be enough sometimes, since there are foods that do not contain all of the micronutrients that your body needs and the fact that most of the nutrients are lost during the cooking process, natural supplements work with a longevity diet to reverse aging and rejuvenation. The Ultimate Detox Bath

Image
The Ultimate Detox Bathhttp://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2012/11/the-ultimate-detox-bath.htmlA couple of nights ago I was really feeling poorly. I was worn out. Physically and mentally. I KNOW I bring a lot of it on myself. I don’t get enough sleep a lot of the time (OK…most of the time) and I hardly ever give myself any “down” time. But I try to eat healthy and I take vitamins, etc.  I just felt like my body was trying to tell me something….but I didn’t know what.
Then I started reading about how toxins can build up in your body over time and cause a myriad of uncomfortable symptoms. For some reason this struck a chord with me…and I decided to give a DETOXIFICATION BATH a try! I mean it couldn’t HURT, right?  The worst thing that could happen would be I experienced a nice, hot bath and some rare “down” time. :-)

Toxins and chemicals are all around us, from our drinking water, to our health and beauty products, to the materials used to build and furnish our homes! They are …

9 Everyday Ab Exercises To Develop Core Strength
By Julie Wilcox
You don’t need to spend hours, or even minutes, at the gym doing ab workouts to get a six-pack. You’d be surprised by how often you can tone your six-pack in everyday life. If you use the following core strength tips to pay close attention to how you move throughout the day, you'll see amazing changes in your abs. Below is a list of simple tips that will help you tone your core:
1. Stand evenly on two feet.
How you bear your body weight is critical to attaining flat abs. Poor, imbalanced posture will inevitably get the best of your six-pack.
2. Fight post-meal food comas.
When you finish eating, battle your core’s desire to lapse into an inactive food coma. Instead, lift your navel towards your chin and pull it towards your spine.
3. Sit cross-legged.
When you’re at work, eating a meal, or watching a movie, try to sit in a cross-legged position. This will allow you to sit tall while avoiding loose …

Tutorial: How to Apply Primer Like a Pro
by Jessica Hagy
A flawless face is the basis of every great makeup look, and while a great skincare regimen, foundation and concealer work wonders, makeup artists have another trick up their sleeves for stunning skin: primer.
Primer preps your skin for the perfect foundation application by filling in fine lines and smoothing pores, and it also keeps your makeup looking fresh all day. Consider it the key to making your skin makeup-ready. Here are our tips on how to apply primer like a pro.

Always apply moisturizer before priming, as it makes your primer application even. Wait a few minutes after your application before priming. Two of our favorite moisturizers are Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream and SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture.

DIY Baking Soda Shampoo

DIY: This Baking Soda Shampoo Saved My Hair

Did you know that baking soda is an incredibly easy way to clean your hair? Yep, the rumors are true. What shocked me even more than the fact that this actually works is how much better my hair began to look when I started using baking soda compared to traditional shampoo!

I’m a complete DIY gal when it comes to my beauty routine and I’m always on a mission to reduce my exposure to potentially harmful chemicals, so I was psyched that this method gave me such great results.
You might be wondering: what's so bad about regular shampoos? Well, they can contain a lot of harmful ingredients. Some of the worst chemical-offenders are:  sodium Sodium LaurylLaureth SulfateDEA/DiethanolamineParabens Fragrance The word fragrance might not sound so bad, but on a label, it can mean the presence of over 4,000 separate chemical ingredients. How scary is that?!
There are lots of great natural brands of shampoo that don…
