What to Eat Before a Workout by MBG

Hello Beauties!

So many questions are asked to me what to eat before a workout. I sometimes just do a shake but their are some great tips to eat pre or pro workouts. This is from MBG and I love a lot of their articles. I will post some from time to time because I really believe in what they write.

Butter Chicken Curry with Naan

Butter Chicken Curry with Naan
Ingredients:4 tbsp plain yogurt1 tbsp curry powder2 tspn paprika1 tspn salt1 can (14.5 oz) tomatoes2 1/2 tbsp butter1 clove garlic, minced1 piece ginger, minced1 tbsp curry powder1 bay leaf2/5 cup heavy cream1 tbsp sugar(or honey)1/2 tbsp saltcreamparsley1/2 pound chicken thighIngredients for Naan:flour(oat flour for gluten free)2/5 cup plain yogurt1 tspn baking powderpinch of salt1 tbsp olive oilDirections:Cut off the skin from the chicken and discard. Cut into bite ­sized pieces and put into a ziploc bag. Add in 4 tbsp plain yogurt, 1 tbsp curry powder, paprika and 1 tspn salt. Refrigerate for at least one hour.Melt butter in a frying pan and saute the minced garlic and ginger until fragrant.Add in 1 tbsp curry powder. Give it a quick mix, then add your canned tomatoes. Continue coking on high until boiling. Add the bay leaf and turn the heat down to low. Simmer for 5 minutes.Add in your marinated chicken and cook for another 10 minutes or until ch…

Mushroom Onion Gravy (GAPS)

Recipe:  Gluten Free Dairy Free Author: Starlene Stewart @ GAPS Diet Journey Recipe type: Condiment Prep time: 15 mins Cook time: 2 hours Total time: 2 hours 15 mins A GAPS legal gravy. Ingredients 3 large onions½ head of cauliflower8 ounces portabella baby mushrooms2-4 Tablespoons butter2 to 3 cups chicken, turkey or beef stocksalt to taste Instructions Preheat oven to 350°F.Grease a medium sized glass casserole dish.Peel the onions and chop into eight pieces.Rinse cauliflower and break into small florets.Rinse and trim bottoms of seven baby portabella mushrooms.Place all ingredients in the glass dish with ½ cup of water.Cover with aluminum foil, or use a lid if your casserole dish has one.Bake for one hour, remove from oven.Stir ingredients.Replace in the oven and allow to bake for another hour.While the onion mixture is baking, wash and slice the remaining mushrooms.Saute in two tablespoons of butter.Cook down until all liquid is gone.After the second hour, the cauliflower should be…

Green Chicken + Veggie Soup

Green Chicken + Veggie SoupYield:Serve 4-6
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes Ingredients:1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil1 small onion, chopped1 green bell pepper, chopped2 carrots, chopped2 stalks of celery, chopped3 cloves chopped garlic1 tsp. ground cumin2 tsp. dried oregano12 ounces shredded chicken (I like using a rotisserie)2 small zucchini, chopped½ cup frozen corn6 cups low sodium chicken broth or homemade stock1 bunch cilantro, stemmed1 Serrano pepperSalt and pepper to taste Directions:Heat olive oil in a large pot and add in onions, pepper, carrots, and celery. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 8-10 minutes or until the veggies begin to look tender.
While veggies are cooking, blend cilantro, Serrano pepper, 1 clove garlic and 2 cups of broth in the blender. Set aside.
Once veggies are tender, season with cumin, oregano, and a little more salt and pepper, stir well and cook for another 2 minutes.
