5 Ways to Make Your Transition to Fall Skin Care a Little Easier
We’ve officially given up on denying the imminent seasonal change and accepted the fact that fall is arriving, for real. That means that some beauty preparations are in order, most of which revolve around switching up our skin care to reflect the rise of cooler, more drying weather. What with all the changes that should be made, it can all seem a bit treacherous—you mean we have to give up the moisturizer we’ve been using for months?—but that doesn’t mean it has to be. These are our top five tips for making the whole fall skin care transition process go just a little bit smoother.
Start using serum underneath your moisturizer.
Switching to thicker, creamier moisturizers come fall can be an adjustment, especially if you have oily or acne-prone skin: you want to add that extra hydration when skin is more prone to dehydration, but you also don’t want to overload it with rich ingredients that could potentially clog pores or cause breakouts, especially after a summer of wearing lightweight formulas. You may need that thick moisturizer once fall turns into winter, but in the meantime, just add a hydrating serum under your lighter-weight moisturizer. Add a moisturizing eye cream.
The thin, fragile skin under the eyes dries out so easily in cooler weather, so it’s important to keep it hydrated to prevent both signs of premature aging and your run-of-the-mill flaking and itchiness.
