TOTAL BODY 8 WEEK CHALLENGE - WEEKS 1-4

Image
I have outlined each day of the week as follows below. You can complete the challenge a few ways. 1) You can do each day one time through, and use that circuit as your workout OR as a BURNOUT at the end of your current workout. 2) You can complete the workout as listed  between 1-4 times through depending on your level. 3) You can set your timer for 15-25 minutes and see how many rounds you can get in of each circuit on any given day. Challenge yourself! On the days you need a jump rope, you can do high knees instead of the skipping. You will also use a set of dumbbells on two of the days as well. If you don’t have dumbbells, use soda or soup cans or water bottles. Try to get some weight in there on those days, even if you are just starting off. The last day of the week (7th day), will be your rest day, unless you need to make up a workout you missed during the week. As the week’s go on, you will get faster. Keep your form spot on and try and beat your time from the week b

The Best Post-Thanksgiving Eating Plan

Image
Photo: Jennifer Boggs/Blend Images/Getty Images Indulgence is all but  guaranteed  on Thanksgiving each year. We all eat a bit too much fat, sugar,  carbs , what have you—and it’s delicious. It’s fine to have those special occasions where our healthy eating plans take a hiatus, but the important thing is that we make sure to follow up with renewed efforts as soon as the holiday ends. After all, Christmas is only a month away … Start during the weekend. Put aside time to exercise during the Thanksgiving weekend, and try to avoid over-eating too much by limiting yourself to the “special dishes” unique to Thanksgiving. Leave behind the regular dishes that you can eat on a regular basis, like bread, says certified dietitian  Ilanit Sananes  of  Kitchenbug . Drink water. Drink plenty of  water  the week after Thanksgiving, specifically a couple of glasses before each meal, says Sananes. Be sure to consume enough water during the Thanksgiving weekend, too. Plan your meals. This

8 Reasons Why You Need Pycnogenol

Image
8 Reasons Why You Need Pycnogenol by  Steven Stiefel This extract from pine bark is one of the most potent supplements you can take for better results from your workouts. You may not know a lot about Pycnogenol, a potent extract that comes from French maritime pine bark. Formulated from proanthocyanidins, Pycnogenol is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. You can find it as a stand-alone or in multiple-ingredient formulations, including in many preworkout products. Typically, Pycnogenol has been marketed more as a supplement to support health or beauty, but it has important applications for weight trainers and athletes. Among its benefits, Pycnogenol provides antioxidant protection. It also binds to collagen and elastin, making it a popular supplement for skin care, fighting the visible signs of aging. Finally, Pycnogenol is a potent vasodilator, helping to deliver blood and oxygen to key body parts. This means it not only supports better workouts and athle

Turn What’s Left Of Your Thanksgiving Bird Into Healing Bone Broth

Image
Both broth  is all the rage these days in the health community for good reason. It's been used as a healing soup for thousands of years, and it's incredibly easy to make at home, especially when you have a carved turkey on your hands. You can easily turn what is usually considered waste (i.e. the turkey carcass) into a wonderfully delicious and healing broth.  Making bone broth works with most animal bones, including any time you roast a chicken or turkey. The more bones the better. Ask your butcher if they have any extras in the back on days that you might need more. On Thanksgiving, however, you'll usually have more than enough. Why Turn Your Turkey Into Bone Broth? You've spent good money on a great-quality bird — use every last ounce of it create even more natural food. (In my opinion, this honors the turkey, too.) Bone broth is incredibly healing to your gut and your health. It's delicious! You can drink your bone broth plain or use it as the base to
