Vanilla Buttered Coffee
You can make the buttered coffee to your tastes—the butter takes the place of the dairy/dairy substitute in a regular cup of joe—including adding flavors like honey and sugar to the butter. Below, Smith's recipe, which can be made hot or iced.
- 1-2 tablespoons grass-fed butter (add 2 tbsp if you omit the coconut oil)
- 2 teaspoons coconut oil (optional)
- 2 teaspoons honey or coconut sugar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Brew two cups of coffee. Place in a blender with butter, coconut oil, vanilla, and honey [Smith says you can also whisk vigorously in lieu of a blender]. For iced coffee, place in a jar, add ice and shake rigorously, or throw in the fridge for the next morning.
