Newsflash: Your Blush Doesn't HAVE to Be Pink

When it comes to your cheeks, purple is the new pink. And so is nude, and for that matter, so are red, tangerine … even gray and lavender! Because *this just in* your blush really doesn’t HAVE to be a classic shade of pink. Who made that rule up anyway? The same way brown, blue and black lippies are sweeping the lipstick world, unconventional (and just plain weird) colors are taking over your blush palettes. So, are you brave enough to ditch your rosy flush for a lilac one?
Blush Colors

Shades of Gray
Cool undertones — prepare to be addicted. While taupe blush may seem daunting (and just plain confusing) at first glance, it’s the perfect shade for creating subtle cheekbone contours without all the effort of true contouring.
Purple Variations
Let’s be honest, purple blush is not for everyone. And we’re not going to sell you on the idea that it is. But there are variations of shades — from pastel to neon — that work wonders on different skin tones.
So, if you’re as pale as can be, brush a lilac-toned blush on the apples of your cheeks to bring life to your complexion! Fuchsia on medium skin tones with cooler undertones is a great way to add a pop of color to your look without going overboard, while warmer skin tones can use rich purples as a contouring tool. Just remember to go light-handed with the application!
Bright Orange
For a healthy glow, warm and olive complexions can benefit from swiping a tangerine shade of blush onto cheeks and even lids!
Brick Red
Bright and brick reds are ideal for those with darker skin tones. But, if you’re feeling brave, start off with a VERY light dusting of this shade on the apples of your cheeks (or you could risk the post-workout flushed face).
Muted Nudes
Nudes are really having their moment. If you’re not a fan of precious pink cheeks, the versatility of a bronzer-like blush will leave you … blushing. It can be used in the summer to accentuate your glowing skin and to create the appearance of razor sharp cheekbones. It can also be used as a blush on lighter skin tones, and shimmery options can be used to highlight skin.
