DIY Sandalwood and Bulgarian Rose Perfume
Sandalwood and Bulgarian Rose Perfume
Make sure you buy your essential oils from Mountain Rose Herbs!!! |
Luxuriant Australian Sandalwood is intermingled with a modest caress of exquisite Bulgarian Rose to fashion a seductive and spicy perfume. This
fragrant fusion is a beautiful and profound attar that will certainly
have ladies and gentlemen stepping a bit closer to you for a second
whiff.
I use Australian Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) essential oil which is used as an ecologically responsible substitute for Indian Sandalwood in perfumery. Australian
Sandalwood harvests are subject to strict governmental regulation and
oversight by the WA Department of Environment and Conservation.
Bulgarian Rose
(Rosa damascena) essential oil is mainly used in the fragrance industry
and the distilled oil is also known for its sedative and aphrodisiac
effects. A little goes a very, very long way. Two drops in the one
ounce of Vodka was all this blend required. Bulgarian Rose essential
oil has a very rich, deep, sweet-floral and slightly spicy aroma that is
quite the aphrodisiac. Did you know that it takes around 10,000 pounds
of rose petals to distill just one pound of oil?
I like to use 100 proof Vodka when making
perfume blends since it has no smell at all. I also only use glass
bottles. I don't like the "plastic-y" smell of plastic bottles. I
think the Vodka must leach out some of the plastic smell?? If you have
sensitive skin or don't want to use alcohol, you can substitute Jojoba
oil. Last, but not least, you need to do a patch test on your skin to
ensure you are not allergic to the essential oils if they are new to
you. If you are pregnant or nursing, make sure you are allowed to use
the specific oils before you start.
