DIY Easy,Edible Seasonal Fruit Facial

DIY: Easy (And Edible) Seasonal Fruit Facial
With summer around the corner there is a whole new batch of fresh produce for us to enjoy. From strawberries and rhubarb to beets and mangoes, there’s a little something for everyone.

If you’re like me, you don’t just eat your produce. No, no! You like to play with it too, and what better way to do that than with a seasonally inspired fruit facial?

Here’s what you will need:
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh mango
  • 1 raw beet, grated
  • 1 stalk of rhubarb, trimmed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
This facial is so simple to make from home.

Directions:

In a blender, add all of your ingredients and cover with lid.

Blend on high for 1-2 minutes or until it becomes a smooth consistency.

Using clean hands, apply your facial to your face skin and neck and let it soak in for 15-20 minutes.

Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.

There are so many reasons why this facial is good for all skin types.

First of all, strawberries naturally contain salicylic acid, which helps stave off nasty acne breakouts. On top of that, they're rich in vitamin C and antioxidants that help promote skin cell turnover for fresher, younger-looking skin.

Mangoes are not only tasty, but effective in giving your skin a radiant glow. The beta-carotene content aids the absorption of vitamin C from your other ingredients to give your skin a healthier appearance.

When rhubarb starts popping up in your local market, you know spring has sprung and summer is right around the corner. This old faithful is rich in vitamin C like the others, but also contains lutein, which is known for fighting against free radicals that can damage your skin.

Rhubarb also offers a skin supporting-nutrient called silica. Silica helps maintain and strengthen your hair, skin and bones. It can help prevent premature skin sagging and dry itching.

Beets are a beet-iful addition to this recipe. Though they're known for staining your lips and skin when eaten, you don’t have to worry about this here, because we aren’t using that much. Beets are great for flushing your skin and body of toxins that clog up your pores and stress your skin. They’re also rich in minerals and nutrients that are not only essential for natural beauty, but ease inflammation by balancing out your pH levels.

Finally, yogurt is a great natural exfoliant. For clearer, brighter skin you want to gently slough away dead skin cells, and yogurt does just that. Mix it all together and you’ve got one serious in-season fruit facial!

Fun fact: If you place this in the freezer for an hour or so you’ll have yourself a tasty treat. Don’t you just love playing with your food?
