Most Popular Anti-Aging Skin Care Ingredients
Anti-aging skin care…it seems as though every magazine you read or every site you go to on the Internet is talking about it. After all, isn’t that why you came to my blog? Today, there are some “hot” product ingredients that you will hear mentioned, but what do they actually do? I have put together some of the more popular ingredients below so you can be a bit more informed as you read down the product labels of your favorite anti-aging skin care products.
Alpha Hydroxy Acid – this ingredient is very popular in products offering exfoliation and/or chemical peels. These acids can be natural or synthetic and are very potent. In fact, over-the-counter products must have a concentration of less than ten percent. Higher concentrations are available through cosmetologists and doctors.
Beta Hydroxy Acid – this is also known as salicylic acid. It has similar benefits to alpha hydroxy acids, but is oil soluble instead of water-soluble. It is most common in exfoliation products.
Ceramides – this is sometimes described as the “glue” that holds your dermis cells together. UV damage can decrease the level of ceramides present, so ceramides in skin care products can help to repair this damage and protect your skin.
Grape Seed Oil – very popular in products that promise to reduce wrinkles. This anti oxidant is also known for its healing properties and reducing damage that can be caused by free radicals.
Green Tea – this is often used in “extract” form and has numerous benefits. Among them, reducing inflammation and repairing cell damage due to sun exposure.
Niacinamide – common ingredient in acne products as well as products helping to reduce age spots. This ingredient is also found in moisturizing and/or hydration skin care products.
Resveratrol – this is an anti oxidant offering many of the same benefits as green tea (skin cell protection against damage from UV rays and production of collagen).
Retinol – this is usually used in products to reduce wrinkles and firm skin. Products using Retinol usually offer both short and long-term effects. It is a derivative of Vitamin A.
Vitamin C – repairs skin discoloration and is touted as being able to increase collagen production, which helps reduce wrinkles. It is also beneficial in reducing skin damage that can occur from UV exposure.
Vitamin E – aids in the prevention of damage to collagen and helps protect cell membranes. It is very effective when used in combination with Vitamin C.
A great company to look for these ingredients is InstaNatural,OZ Naturals,Body Merry,Oleavine,Poppy Austin. And you can find the links in my blog to get them on their site or Amazon. Below I will link you to some great products. And great prices.
