According to my Modern Essentials reference book:
  • Clove essential oil is analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, a strong antiseptic, and an immune stimulant (among other things…)
  • Lemon essential oil is antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic, and antidepressant (among other things…)
  • Cinnamon essential oil is antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, and anti-infectious (among other things…)
  • Eucalyptus essential oil is analgesic, antibacterial, anti-infectious, antiviral, and an expectorant (among other things…)
  • Rosemary essential oil is analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-infectious, and also an expectorant (among other things…)
Because of the powerful properties of these oils, this blend can be used to fight a cold, flu, virus, or infection, as well as for various household cleaning applications.

DIY All-Purpose Anti-Bacterial Essential Oil Blend

  • 20 drops clove essential oil
  • 18 drops lemon essential oil
  • 10 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
  • 8 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 5 drops rosemary essential oil
Combine all oils and store in a dark glass container (such as the little amber bottles you can get at the health food store). This makes a fairly small amount, so feel free to double or triple the recipe.
I also added 5 drops each of melaleuca and frankincense essential oil to my blend– just for an extra kick– however, this is totally optional.
Ideas for use:
  1. Use this blend in your diffuser to purify the air– this is especially useful if a member of your family is fighting a flu bug.
  2. Mix this blend into your homemade cleaning products for extra disinfecting power.
  3. Dilute the blend, then rub it on the soles of your feet to combat colds & flus and to boost your immune system.
*Very Important Note* Some of the oils contained in this blend are very hot and can burn your skin if used undiluted. It is very important to dilute this blend in a carrier such as fractionated coconut oil or sweet almond oil before using them on your skin.

I added some sweet almond oil right in the bottle with my blend and made a little note on the bottle.
If you plan on ingesting this blend or using it on your body, please make sure that you are using 100% pure oils that are specifically designed for therapeutic use. Many of the cheaper oils available at places like the health food store are NOT safe for ingestion and I would steer clear of them.
