HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN FACE POWDER MAKEUP

Things You'll Need

  • Glass bowl
  • 1 tsp. comfrey root powder
  • 1 tsp. slippery elm bark powder

Instructions

    • 1
Measure into a glass bowl 1 tsp. of comfrey root powder, 1 tsp. of slippery elm bark powder, 1 tsp. of kaolin clay and 3 oz. of arrowroot powder. If you cannot find the herbs in powdered form, you may grind them to a powder with a clean coffee grinder.
    • 2
Stir the ingredients together with a wooden spoon as you add 5 to 10 drops of either lavender or sweet orange essential oils. Start with a small amount of essential oil, adding more only if necessary. Lavender tends to have a stronger scent than orange, so remember, just one drop at a time and test.
    • 3
Test a brushing of your powder on your face and then slowly add up to 1 tsp. of beet root powder and up to 1/2 tsp. of your choice of colored mica to help reach your natural skin tone. For best results, measure the maximum amounts of each powder first and then add them to your base a pinch at a time. Test on your skin and then add another pinch until you reach the right color.

Store your natural face powder in a small glass jar with a tight fitting lid. Dab a large blush brush into the jar and tap the excess powder off into the jar and then apply to your face in circular motions. You can work to blend the powder even better using a cotton makeup pad.
