What’s the Best Korean Skin Care for Aging Skin?

I put five of the most popular Korean anti-aging products to the test to see whether they can effectively restore glow, bounce and moisture to my sensitive mature skin. Read on to see whether these K-Beauty favorites deliver on their promises.

numbuzin – No.9 NAD Bio Lifting-sil Essence

Why the hype: Essentially a brightening serum combined with a hydrating essence in a creamy, skin-pampering formula, this all-round skin savior delivers the goods with an abundance of peptides to keep sagging skin at bay. It’s additionally infused with numbuzin’s NAD+ Essence (a mix of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and glutathione) for a brightening boost and skin barrier support. The lightweight and fragrance-free cream boasts an elastic touch with no sticky residue.

Key Ingredients: Niacinamide, ascorbic acid, tocopherol, peptides, adenosine, glycerin, sodium hyluronate

My experience: The No.9 NAD Bio Lifting-sil Essence was a joy to apply, and it really helped to perk up my skin! It left a subtle but palpable glow, and the lightweight yet luscious texture was just right for my dry, sensitive skin. It pairs perfectly with other serums and moisturizers in my vanity – from hyaluronic acid toners to peptide creams – to restore equilibrium to my stressed-out skin. Used in lieu of my usual serum-and-cream combo in the morning, the essence also delivered the hydration my skin craved. Bottom line: it left my skin looking well-nourished after daily use for a week, which bodes well for its ability to revitalize and protect my skin long-term.

Biodance – Bio Collagen – Real Deep Mask Set

Why the hype?  This innovatively designed sleeping mask is the talk of the town. Packed with collagen and peptides to boost skin elasticity, niacinamide to brighten skin and galactomyces for combating free radical damage, this sleeping mask promises to deliver everything from instant glow to more resilient skin in the long run. The mask is designed to turn clear once the essence is fully absorbed into skin.

My Experience: Although this mask looked a tad gimmicky, it turned out to be a real pleasure to use. The soft, gooey-looking mask material was so comfortable it felt like second skin! While it’s recommended to leave the mask on for a full three to four hours, it actually turned clear by the time I was done with my pre-bedtime rituals, meaning my skin had fully absorbed the essence. The mask left a subtle glow rather than a full-on glow-up, but I was more than satisfied. Hopefully, regular use will bring me closer to my skin goals!

A.H.C. – TEN Revolution Real Eye Cream for Face

Why the hype?  Infused with 10 types of collagen derived from human stem cell extract as well as 11 kinds of hyaluronic acid and 16 kinds of vitamins, this hidden gem is vouched for by several beauty influencers on account of its rich, nutrient-packed formula promising to depuff and brighten eyes.

Key Ingredients: Niacinamide, camellia japonica flower extract, hydrolyzed collagen, inositol, allantoin, adenosine, arginine, quercetin

My experience: This eye cream instantly alleviated that tightness around the corners of my eyes while subtly reducing my dark circles after a week of usage. Compared to other eye creams I’ve used, it came in a relatively creamy formula that nonetheless blended seamlessly into skin. I can’t attest to its skin-firming and wrinkle-busting capabilities yet, but I look forward to seeing if continued use will reveal rewarding results.

ROUND LAB – Camellia Deep Collagen Firming Cream

Why the hype: The latest from the brand behind the viral Dokdo toner,this gel cream comes in a lightweight formula with a pink hue derived from its hero ingredient Camellia Collagenol™, a mix of Japanese camellia flower extract, inositol and quercetin that promotes collagen synthesis – and brighter, bouncier skin. The goodness doesn’t end there. Other nourishing ingredients like  Multi-Collagen Complex, Vitamin B12 and HPR Next-Generation Retinol work together to improve skin tone and texture.

My Experience: Delivering amply on hydration, soothing care and brightening care, this cream was a solid performer but lacked the oomph to rise above other similar moisturizers in my skin care rotation. I do love the comforting gel formula, which works perfectly as a day cream. To achieve prominent anti-aging results, it probably needs to be supplemented by more potent products.

Why the hype?  K-Beauty has never fallen out of love with snail mucin, which offers a gentler alternative to current anti-aging faves like retinol and bakuchiol. With snail mucin working in tandem with rice ferment filtrate to fade dark spots, up hydration levels and repair barrier damage, this viral sensation promises to fend off signs of premature aging while delivering glow-ups.

Key Ingredients: 970,000ppm snail secretion filtrate, allantoin, sodium hyaluronate, 130ppm rice seed extract, 30ppm rice ferment filtrate, panthenol

My Experience: I liked the essence. It has great ingredients. I do appreciate its hydrating properties and skin-pampering texture, so I’ll probably test it more thoroughly in the future to see if my skin has changed at all.
