Frankincense: A favorite essential oil of mine

What Is Frankincense?

Frankincense, also known as olibanum, is made from the resin of the Boswellia tree. It typically grows in the dry, mountainous regions of India, Africa, and the Middle East.
Frankincense has a woody, spicy smell and can be inhaled, absorbed through the skin, steeped into a tea, or taken as a supplement. Used in Ayurvedic medicine for hundreds of years, frankincense appears to offer certain health benefits, from improved arthritis and digestion to reduced asthma and better oral health. It may even help fight certain types of cancer.

Medicinal Benefits Of Frankincense

May Reduce Arthritis
Frankincense has anti-inflammatory effects that may help reduce joint inflammation caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers believe that frankincense can prevent the release of leukotrienes, which are compounds that can cause inflammation.

May Improve Gut Function
Frankincense’s anti-inflammatory properties may also help your gut function properly. This resin appears particularly effective at reducing symptoms of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, two inflammatory gut diseases. In one small study in people with Crohn’s disease, frankincense extract was as effective as the pharmaceutical drug mesalazine at reducing symptoms.

May Help With Fungal & Bacterial Infections

Frankincense may help prevent and treat infections caused by bacteria or fungi due to its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. The boswellic acids it provides appear to have strong antibacterial properties, which may help prevent and treat oral infections.

One of the main components of my homemade facial/body oil  is frankincense. Because of its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, it helps to efficiently protect your skin from the pathogens it comes into contact with daily.

Here is my recipe for Glowing Facial Oil:

Ingredients
  1. 2 tbsp. grapeseed oil
  2. 1 tbsp. borage seed oil or evening primrose oil
  3. 1 tbsp. rosehip oil
  4. 1 tbsp. coconut oil
  5. 25 drops of therapeutic-grade Frankincense essential oil

Instructions
  1. Combine all oils and store in a dark, glass bottle {like this one } and store in a cool, dry place.

I make all sorts of different oils for my skin. Depends on what it needs. So far this is a favorite and works well even to take off makeup. If you want me to make you a oil for your skintype just comment on this post and I will get your information and send you a bottle. I charge $20 plus shipping.

Love the skin your in,
