Spirulina & Skincare

Spirulina is a type of oceanic algae that contains a wide array of nutrients. Known as one of the “super foods,” spirulina can provide your body with many different health benefits. For example, you can improve the quality of your skin by supplementing your diet with spirulina, and using a powerful skincare line that is known for its algae in their products. Grown in their facility here in La Grange, Texas.

Properties

Spirulina contains high-quality protein and large concentrations of vitamins and minerals, including the B complex vitamins, minerals such as calcium and iron, and vital amino acids. Spirulina is also high in a specific and rare type of fatty acid called gamma linolenic acid that is found in very few substances on Earth.

Benefits

Spirulina has been touted to help the body in a wide variety of ways, including providing the body with energy, warding off free radicals and eliminating toxins from the skin, increasing skin metabolism to enable faster skin cell turnover and skin healing, and helping prevent candida bacteria overgrowth that can cause acne breakouts.

Methods

Spirulina is typically purchased as a powder that needs to be refrigerated, which you can purchase from any health food store or natural foods market. Spirulina can be added to smoothies or mixed into any raw foods recipe. Spirulina should not be heated because many of the nutrients will be removed during the heating process.
