Game Changer: A Breakthrough in Body Moisturizers
When it comes to beauty, everyone has their “thing.” Some people are religious about regular haircuts, bikini waxes or manicures—but my thing is body moisturizing. Yep, there’s nothing I’m more
obsessive regimented about than properly hydrating the skin on my arms and legs.
But even though I’m kind of crazy about slathering on lotion, I admit that it’s annoying to wait until you’re completely dry after a shower to apply—and then wait even longer for it to absorb before you dress for the day. Time doesn’t stop ticking just because you want soft skin! That’s why I was particularly intrigued by a new body moisturizer that can be applied on wet skin, immediately after you step out of the shower, and absorbs straight away.
I know, I know. If you haven’t tried it, it sounds crazy…but it actually works.
Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer ($7) is INCREDIBLE. It’s meant to be used on skin covered with water droplets—I keep mine in the shower with me and apply it as soon as I turn off the water. The idea behind it is that warm water opens pores, so your skin is the most receptive to moisturizer immediately after your shower. The moisturizer is incredibly silky and rather thin, so it glides over your wet skin as you apply it and absorbs in no time. The first time I tried it, I thought it was the strangest thing—now I don’t know how I lived without it.
But there’s the word “wet” in the name for a reason; you really do need to apply this to wet skin. Without thinking, I applied it after toweling off and found it left a sticky, uncomfortable after-feel when rubbed into dry skin. Lesson learned.
Because I apply this moisturizer immediately after my shower and because it absorbs immediately, I’m ready to get dressed in two minutes flat. But the convienince isn’t the only good thing about this moisturizer: because it absorbs immediately, I don’t have to worry about the formula transferring onto my clothes, and I don’t have to walk outside into the late summer humidity feeling like my lotion is slipping right off my skin. The hydration lasts all day, and imparts a subtle shine to my skin that I can’t get enough of. The Wet Skin Moisturizer come in three scents, but I’m a fan of the formula infused with coconut oil—smells amazing but not overpowering. After all, I don’t want anything that competes with my perfume.
It may take some adjusting to get used to applying moisturizer to wet skin, rather than after towelling off, but this is a genuine game changer. The skin on my arms and legs have never been happier, and for that, I will continue to sing its praises. Oh, and apply it after every shower.
