DIY Coconut Oil Facial Recipes
Coconut Oil Scrub
This recipe is moisturizing and works in two ways to exfoliate dead skin cells. The grains in the sugar and salt lift off skin as does the glycolic acid which is found in brown/demerara sugar.
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of honey
1 teaspoon of brown or demerara sugar
half a teaspoon of salt
Mix these ingredients together well, and apply to your skin in a gentle circular motion. You can leave this recipe on for a few minutes for extra moisturizing and then wash off. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

This is an antibacterial soothing and calming wash to eliminate acne and heal acne scars.
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
3 drops tea tree oil
2 drops lavender or neem oil
For oily skin add a squeeze of lemon juice
Optional: a teaspoon of honey
Mix together well and use like you would your standard cleanser. Leave on for a minute then wash off and pat dry with a clean towel.

This is a very moisturizing mask for normal to very dry and mature skin types. It's a synergistic blend that makes the most of every ingredient giving your skin the most bang for the buck so to speak.
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of honey
Optional: half a teaspoon of avocado oil
Half a mashed avocado or banana for moisturizing (or also use mashed fruit, carrot or sweet potato as antioxidant ingredients)
Blend these ingredients together well and apply to skin. Leave on 10 to 20 minutes then wash off. If you want extra hydration and antiaging benefits add a few drops of rosehip and carrot seed oil. You can also use neroli and rose oil for very dry or mature skin.
Coconut Cream Oatmeal Soothing Mask
Coconut Cream Oatmeal Soothing Mask
If you have itchy or inflamed skin or have been out in the sun and wind this is a great recipe. It soothes and moisturizes at the same time.
Half a cup of coconut cream
3 tablespoons of oatmeal soaked and half a cup of chamomile tea. Strain out the oatmeal flakes and the use the liquid
1 teaspoon of honey or aloe Vera gel
1 teaspoon of plain yogurt (optional)
1 teaspoon of cucumber juice (optional)
Mix together well and leave in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes and apply to skin with a cotton pad or your fingertips. Leave on for as long as you wish or leave to dry. This is also good to calm acne breakouts

Coconut Oil Skin Serum
This is a beautifully hydrating and nourishing moisturizer serum to make at home. You can add essential oils to this base to smooth wrinkles, hydrate extra dry skin or even reduce red veins. Depending on what skin you have any issues you want to address you can add other base and essential oils to this mix.
If you want an anti-wrinkle blend for around your eyes you can use Coconut oil as a base and add Macadamia, Carrot, Rosehip and essential oils like Neroli to the Coconut oil to make an extremely moisture boosting potent anti-aging serum.

1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of almond or sweet apricot oil
few drops of avocado oil (optional)
5 drops of carrot seed and rose hip oil (also optional but makes your skin feel amazing, smooths lines and repairs sun damage)
Blend these ingredients together and store and a glass bottle. Apply a few drops a day. This blend should last you a long time and a stated above can be adapted with the addition of other base oils and essential oils that are equally as good as what you'll find in top quality skin care ranges.
