24-hr Fast & 5-Day Raw Avocado & Juice DetoX

I find that when we travel or during holidays, we consume way too many calories and to much sugar, processed foods and grains. We need to do a seasonal or bi-yearly detox. I try to do one seasonally. I have found doing a  vegan with plants works well and this avocado fast I came upon. I discovered it listening to a podcast in the truck. And I decided to do this a few months back. I lasted 3 days. But I am here to try it again. If you can't do just avocados and green tea and water, below is another great detox to follow instead. 

So while I tend to still have meals that are 70% plant based , when travelling the meals are not made by me so I don't know where the food comes from or if they use bad fats. So my body can get bogged down and I really get a lot of belly aches.

I encourage you to give the “temple” a break every time you come home from a weekend away or longer vacation. It’s necessary to readjust the body. Your digestive tract has been working overtime trying to manage more food than usual. Don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today and start cleaning house.

***Adding exercise to this detox, goes without saying. It is a must to keep the body moving. Be sure you do your practice in the morning, on an empty stomach. You’ll be more flexible and will breathe deeper, therefore allowing the digestive tract room to work.

24-HOUR FAST: this is easier than you imagine. Eat breakfast and lunch today, then quit eating until tomorrow around lunch time. It gives the body a break from food for 24 hours, though you’ve had some food on both days. That said, make it small meals going into the fast and coming out of it.

5-DAY AVOCADO LIQUID DETOX OR 2 AVOCADOS A DAY: this detox is full of nutrients and therefore easy to get through. The body requires a lot of liquid to keep things moving through the pipes. the more liquid the better.

DAILY LIQUID INTAKE (take all these any time of the day but be consistent so you stick to your plan.) Here is what I do.

1) Be sure to have plenty of filtered or bottled water throughout the day. Drink 8 to 12 cups at room temperature, or hot. Just keep refilling that cup!

BREAKFAST AFTER MEDITATION AND YOGA (A YOGA VIDEO FOR YOU BELOW):

2) Enjoy green tea in the morning, it will give you energy. 1 cup is fantastic, and no more than 2 cups. This beverage is loaded with antioxidants. Still because it is also full of caffeine, it should be enjoyed in small doses. Always have 2 cups of water for every cup of tea. (no sugar, honey, agave nectar, dairy, almond, soy or rice milk… in other words, drink it plain.

3) RAW PROTEIN SHAKE (12 ounces): 1 ripe banana, 6 raw cacao beans (SUPER FOOD), 1 cup raw coconut water (SUPER FOOD), 1/3 cup raw pecans or almonds. Put ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.

LUNCH OR DINNER (pick one juice for each meal)

3) GREEN JUICE (1 pint): 1 bunch kale, 1 cucumber, 2 celery sticks, 1 lemon, 1/4 apple, 1 slice ginger, 1 touch of cayenne. Process with juicer.

4) VEGGIE JUICE (1pint): 1 small beet, 3 medium carrots, 1/2 bunch kale, 2 celery sticks, 1 slice ginger, 1/4 apple, 1/4 lemon. Process with juicer.

SNACK

5) 2 Haas avocado, plain (SUPER FOOD)

BEFORE GOING TO BED:

5) CRANBERRY-APPLE-ALOE VERA COCKTAIL (12 ounces): 3 ounces aloe vera (SUPER FOOD), 4 ounces 100% pure cranberry juice, 5 ounces 100% pure apple juice. stir and drink!

6) You can use a colon cleanse supplement (psyllium powder): to clean the walls of your colon. (optional). My liquid detox will clean you out, no doubt, but if you wish to remove any plaque from your colon. Also if you choose just to do the 2 avocados a day this to will keep you clean too. Lots of water. Lots.

DAY 6: reintroduce foods slowly into your diet. I highly recommend you eat only 1 meal that day. Make it a salad with a lean protein or even a clean warm soup.(butternut)(tomato)

Good luck with this one. It’s easier than you think. Eat slowly, mindfully, and you won’t go hungry! GOOD LUCK LADIES THAT ARE DOING THIS WITH ME. REMEMBER IF YOU CANNOT DO IT ONE DAY THAN DO THIS JUICE AVOCADO DETOX FOR THAT DAY OR CONTINUE WITH THIS DETOX OR JUMP BACK INTO THE 2X AVOCADOS A DAY.
