According to my Modern Essentials reference book:
- Clove essential oil is analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, a strong antiseptic, and an immune stimulant (among other things…)
- Lemon essential oil is antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic, and antidepressant (among other things…)
- Cinnamon essential oil is antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, and anti-infectious (among other things…)
- Eucalyptus essential oil is analgesic, antibacterial, anti-infectious, antiviral, and an expectorant (among other things…)
- Rosemary essential oil is analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-infectious, and also an expectorant (among other things…)
Ideas for use:DIY All-Purpose Anti-Bacterial Essential Oil Blend
Combine all oils and store in a dark glass container (such as the little amber bottles you can get at the health food store). This makes a fairly small amount, so feel free to double or triple the recipe.
- 20 drops clove essential oil
- 18 drops lemon essential oil
- 10 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
- 8 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- 5 drops rosemary essential oil
I also added 5 drops each of melaleuca and frankincense essential oil to my blend– just for an extra kick– however, this is totally optional.
- Use this blend in your diffuser to purify the air– this is especially useful if a member of your family is fighting a flu bug.
- Mix this blend into your homemade cleaning products for extra disinfecting power.
- Dilute the blend, then rub it on the soles of your feet to combat colds & flus and to boost your immune system.
I added some sweet almond oil right in the bottle with my blend and made a little note on the bottle.
If you plan on ingesting this blend or using it on your body, please make sure that you are using 100% pure oils that are specifically designed for therapeutic use. Many of the cheaper oils available at places like the health food store are NOT safe for ingestion and I would steer clear of them.
