While sophisticated MRI and X-Ray machines leave little to the imagination, they haven't been around that long. Human disease and disorders, however, precede them by millennia. Instead, ancient medical practitioners have used nuanced observational diagnoses to quickly narrow down symptoms to specific imbalances within the body and help prevent or correct future disease. The same techniques can still be used today to read the skin on your face to help determine what's causing flare-ups or blemishes. "Face mapping," an ancient practice rooted in Ayurvedic teaching, connects a point on your face to an organ or body part so you know what to treat internally for clear external results. Here are 10 areas your face may be breaking out or experiencing an issue, and what they say about your health: 1. Forehead Might mean : gallbladder and liver issues According to Ayurveda, the forehead is ruled by the Vata dosha and relates to the nervous system and digestive sy...

Let me start by saying, I am obsessed with fire cider tonic. It has saved me from so much digestive discomfort. What is fire cider tonic, you ask? Well, fire cider tonic is a powerful, food-based tonic that aids in digestion and immune support. Fire cider tonic ingredients vary from brand to brand, but my homemade fire cider consists of: red onion, garlic, apple cider vinegar, ginger, lemon, lime, and cayenne pepper. It has helped me better digest my meals and has nearly eliminated my chronic post-meal bloating, cramping, and discomfort. Fire cider is also great because it can be used not only as a digestive aid, but as general immune support. It has lots of antibacterial properties from garlic, vitamin C from lemons and limes, the benefits of raw apple cider vinegar, the prebiotics of onion and ginger, and the kick of cayenne. It also works wonders on colds. It's such amazing food-based powerhouse. So, are you ready to make your own?! Don't be scared. It honestly cou...

You may be eating plenty of vegetables throughout your day, but if you are cooking them, you may be destroying their vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately, the cooking process can break down, destroy, or leech out the nutrients in your vegetables. The good news is that there are methods that help maintain the nutritional value in your veggies. All of those methods follow three cooking rules: Rule #1 – Cook with less water. Typically, that water is then washed down the drain. So, not only are you losing the vitamins in your vegetables, you’re then throwing those vitamins away. Rule #2 – Cook At Low Temperatures Water and heat are the two biggest culprits of vitamin destruction. Cooking at a lower temperature helps keep the heat factor...
