The Best Foundations for Dry Skin

best foundations for dry skin

Spring has arrived, summer’s on its way, and it’s time to shed your winter coats, scarves, gloves, and skin…. dry skin, that is. Winter can make us feel dehydrated and patchy because dry skin, which is made up mostly of dead skin cells, has a hard time shedding on its own, leading to flakiness and discomfort. As seasons change, it’s important to reevaluate your routine and products.
Here are some tips to help transition your skin to warmer weather flawlessly:
Exfoliate: Banish the thought that dry skin can't be exfoliated. It simply isn't true. Exfoliation is key to jumpstarting the skin renewal process, you just need to make sure you choose the right product. When your skin is dry, avoid exfoliants that have harsh granules or a lot of texture. You want to use a granule-free exfoliant that is soft, yet gets the job done.

If your skin is oily, combination, or generally prone to break outs, try something a little stronger like Vichy Normaderm Daily Exfoliating Cleansing Gel
Prime: The more you focus on hydration, the better your make-up will look and last. Use a hydrating, brightening primer in conjunction with your daily moisturizer to give your skin an extra boost before foundation. Choose a product that has a slight illuminating effect and it will instantly hide dryness.

Primer Picks: Giorgio Armani Light Master Primer, or Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
Perfect: In the winter months you might opt for a fuller coverage foundation, but as we progress into spring and summer, it’s nice to switch to something sheerer. Chose a foundation that will not only hydrate the skin, but also provide a nice, natural coverage. I also recommend choosing a formula with SPF for added protection.
